What do you think?

As far as I can tell, structurally the songs that I've heard are complex and moving enough to qualify.
The only weird part is the depth of the actual acoustic sounds coming from the strings, woodwinds, brass etc.
But whats the difference when you can *record acoustic instruments* and incorperate that into a digitally constructed arrangement?

I don't know much about the technical aspects though.
What you think?

god, where do i start? i was a lot younger when i got into it (18, to be exact), but to listen to and examine it now, wow. simply put, it is the textures. his really strong albums have that continuity, but this album has a warmth and eerieness that extends throughout the whole album that can't be found in anything else he's done (at least not that collectively). secondly, it's almost COMPLETELY original. he'd shown references to it on 85-92, but that album only hinted on what was to be. there is a track on that album that arguably could fit on the analogue-filled creepiness of "I Care..." ("Schottkey 7th Path"), but as a whole, this album is simply too perfect and thorough from beginning to end.

secondly, it's got "Icct Hedral" and "COME ON YOU SLAGS!", which just about goes without saying. in my opinion, these two are the "headphuq" totem poles that anchor the rest of the warm madness going on. personally, i have a fondness for dark and delirious tones, and if there are melodies that evoke the insanity of his self-portrait on the cover of the album, it is found in these two songs.

thirdly,....i gotta go. but here's a few more of my favs:

The Richard D James Album - cementing his genius once and for all...
Classics - brutal
Selected Ambient Works 85-92 - genius, classic, all that good stuff....
Selected Ambient Works 2 - one word: texture

Hello to all of you
I wonder what you think of his 26 remixes for cash? I just got it a couple weeks ago, and by coincidence happened to take a hit of acid a friend of mine had given me many months ago that I had left in my desk drawer and forgot about. I spent the night typing and listening to 26 remixes and ultravisitor by squarepusher (you must buy this album if you haven't already!) As might be your experience as well, a psychadelic drug reveals the brilliant depth and complexity of their music. I don't know the name, but track 14 on the second disc is as close as anyone has ever come to defining in sound what lsd is like, so far as I have heard. Even since that lovely night a few weeks ago, everytime I listen to the song I feel my mind moving into new places, my whole body even. The first track on the second disc rivals Come To Daddy in terms of music for demons. While I was listening to this song I was overcome with gigantic too-much feelings and kept visualizing Satan's armies of ghoules stomping their feet and clapping their hands while Satan's second in command rapped away to the beat and Satan followed his forces to the fallen capital of the world. It sounds pretty awful, but it was really funny and I couldn't stop laughing while I listened to this song. Overall, the album is probably his most accessible. Someone told me he said in an interview that his song Milkman on Richard D. James was his attempt at a pop song, and the same could be said about most of the music on this album. Its often gentle or very sweet melodies over slightly fucked with drum breaks that eventually ascend into a more characteristic aphex song, and he does at times (I sound like a stupid critic, it's not my intention) create sounds for moods I never thought there could be expression for. Overall though it doesn't plunge into new like Druqks did. That album is still genuinely beyond our comprehension. It's like a color that hasn't been invented. The remixes are also incredible, and are alot like his Come to Daddy EP with a lot of energy invested to give us listeners a good wholesome experience. He deserves our money but we deserve another album comparable to druqks. Or maybe we don't even. But, shit, I didn't mean to write all these thoughts out, I wanted to know what you all think. So let's hear

He recently stated in an interview, “I don’t think music should be a commodity…I really do think there shouldn’t be any copyright on art.” With that viewpoint in mind, I was hoping that he'd allow my dance company, which lacks the financial resources to pay for the rights, to utilize the sample.
